This past weekend my husband's Aunt Sandy and her two boys came to Minnesota to visit with the family (they live in Colorado). While they were here Shawn and I got to hang out with the 3 of them and while Shawn and the older son Kenny were playing video games, the younger son Jason wanted to do crafts and make jewelry with me again! šŸ˜Š

We started making things with perler beads and he made himself a necklace pendant that he calls ā€œThe Avocado of Life!ā€ šŸ„‘ Then we moved on to making jewelry and he made himself a cool bracelet with wood beads, a couple of fun star beads with faces on them and a yin yang pendant ā˜Æļø

While we were crafting I asked Sandy if she wanted me to make her a necklace and she said yes so I asked her what color(s) she would like and she said blue and that she wanted something simple. With her being from Colorado and loving to hike I immediately thought of the stacked rocks you see on some hiking trails (called cairns) and also the beautiful lakes out in Colorado so I drew a quick sketch of what I was thinking and then picked out the beads and made the necklace. It ended up being an upside down cairn due to the size of the beads but we both really liked how it turned out!

I enjoyed making it so much that it inspired me to make some more necklaces and earrings in a similar style, so get excited for those to start appearing in my Etsy shop in the near future! šŸ„³

Here is the first pair of earrings I made that are inspired by the necklace I made Sandy:

A fishhook earring with a pendant that is made up of a orange bead, a green bead and a purple bead stacked on top of one another to look like a cairyn. The earring is being displayed on a white mannequin's ear.
